What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy can help with many issues. A hypnotherapist guides their client into a relaxing and pleasant state of trance, hypnosis can be used to quickly and easily help you make the positive changes that you desire. Trance is a perfectly natural state that we all enter into several times during the course of a normal day, hypnosis is not a deep sleep but many people describe it as an extremely relaxing and comfortable experience.

We each create our reality from our thoughts and beliefs, beliefs are put into our heads by our parents, family and friends. They may have the best intentions but their ideas aren’t usually beneficial to us. When we enter into a trance state we become more open to positive suggestion but we don’t lose control, you will be conscious of your surroundings at all times, probably more aware and alert than you are when you are not hypnotised. The NHS says, “You’re fully in control when under hypnosis and don’t have to take on the therapist’s suggestions if you don’t want to. If necessary, you can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state.”

What Happens in the Hypnotherapy Session?

First of all, we will have a chat so I can get to know you and the problem you want help with, I will answer any questions you have and explain a bit more about what hypnosis is and how it works. Once I have an idea of what you need help with I will begin to hypnotise you, I don’t swing a pocket watch and I don’t usually say “sleep” or “look into my eyes”. Once you are in a trance state I can begin to improve your thought patterns and behaviours with the use of metaphor and positive suggestions. I see clients from Windsor, Berkshire and all over the World with online therapy via Skype or Zoom.


Yes, hypnosis is perfectly safe. Most people find it to be a very enjoyable and relaxing experience.
Trance is a natural state that we all experience several times a day so most people can be hypnotised. If there is a reason I cannot hypnotise you I still have many other ways by which I can help, I am a certified practitioner of TFT, EFT and CBT. I am a master practitioner of NLP and Mindfulness.

Hypnosis has been around in one form or another for thousands of years and there are no reported cases of anyone, ever becoming permanently hypnotised.

You may become so relaxed and find hypnosis to be such an enjoyable experience that you don’t want to wake up but I won’t leave you in that state for too long.

It depends on what you need help with and how much you need it. Some issues can be dealt with in just one session. Many of my clients like to book three sessions and I offer special pricing to clients who book three sessions upfront.

Hypnotherapy for Phobias

Fear was once a useful tool to protect our ancestors from real danger but in this day and age we don’t have many natural threats, we don’t have deadly, poisonous spiders or snakes. We create phobias because our brains are meaning-making machines that need to sort through vast amounts of information every second, to enable us to quickly make decisions about life-threatening situations our brains use a process called pattern matching. Pattern matching enables us to quickly sort for threats and avoid danger. A phobia happens when our pattern matching mind has created an irrational fear and associated a small, harmless spider with a black widow, a worm with a rattlesnake or a small cat with a sabre-toothed tiger, hypnotherapy can be used to help phobia sufferers delete irrational fears from their subconscious mind.
